The Rise of the Cinderella Shoe

Lately there has been a surge of very girly, very dainty, very gorgeous shoes. All the glitz and glam you can ask for, I mean they are giving real old school Hollywood glam, real Great Gatsby, real I’m going to the ball and you gworlz can’t tell me nothing, you get my drift! But isn’t it time??!!

We were on lock down for well over a year, then after lockdown, we were released, but where were we going, nowhere that’s where, because everything had been cancelled and activities were limited. The designers, though, they had had enough, and you could see it all over the runways. Before everything was much more muted, lots of neutrals and comfortable clothing, now it’s all about glam, about getting out of the house and living life. Even though HELLOOOO, the pandemonium is not over, thank you Omarion (Omicron), but we are getting out more than before, and that calls for new shoes. So, I say, yes Ladies it is time for us to rise from the ashes of our tattered sweatpants and t-shirts, Ugg slippers and Birkenstocks, and for some of you those horrendous Crocs!! Let us rejoin the fashionistas of the world. Rise I say, rise like the Phoenix, ready to slay the day or night, whichever you prefer, and what better way to do that than with a pair of gorgeous shoes!

Not just any shoe, you hear me, we need glamorous, over the top, when the light hits the shoe, you see how it shines! Shoes that are going to start conversations, shoes that when you walk into the room they say OH OKAY, the shoes that say oh she got those, the shoes that say she’s giving me rich auntie vibes, uh huh those shoes. Which brings us to these brands that have emerged and some oldie but goodies that have glammed up their shoe game as well.

One of the newest to the shoe game is Amina Muaddi. Amina started out as an assistant stylist, working for several magazines, Condé Nast, Vogue Italy, GQ along with some others. She cofounded her first brand Oscar Tiye and then she collaborated with Alexandre Vauthier on the launch of his shoe collection. It was in 2017, that she launched her brand, and then in 2018 she was hired by Rihanna to design she’s for her Fenty brand, and their first collection was released in 2020. From there it was all she wrote. Her shoes sell out as quickly as they are released. You can recognize her shoes anywhere because of their signature heel, which flare out making them different from any other shoe. Her shoes can run you anywhere from $650 on upwards to $1500.

Next on the list is Mach & Mach. If you want some extra sparkle in your life, then this is the brand to go with. Mach & Mach was cofounded by sisters Nina and Gvansta Macharashvili in 2012. Even though the brand has been around for some time it wasn’t until 2020 that they gained worldwide notoriety when their shoes were shown at Paris Fashion Week. These have been truly dubbed the Cinderella shoe, coming in beautiful satin colors with crystal encrusted bows and ankle straps and if crystals aren’t your thing and you’re into pearls, well they have those too. These are said to be the most Instagrammable shoe out there. Of course, they have been endorsed by celebs like Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner, and Solange. Mach & Mach shoes typically start at around $975 and go up from there.

One brand that has been around the longest, but you may have not heard of is René Caovilla. It is the second oldest luxury shoe brand in the world at 90 years old. Along with his own designer brand, in the 70’s and 80’s René collaborated with Valentino Garavani, Christian Dior, and Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. Their signature shoe is the Cleo snake sandal. It is a stiletto with a sparkling strap that spirals around the ankle and calf. They make many crystal embellished shoes and at different heel heights, so if you aren’t a stiletto girl, then this may be the brand for you. One thing they also do is a combat boot with the crystal embellished “snake” going up and around the shoe. Heart Eyes! These shoes have been worn by Rihanna, Gal Gadot, Bella Hadid and many other celebrities. They can cost you between $900- $1700, but I have seen them on sale, so if you are willing to run the risk and or stalk a pair then you may catch them at half price.

Now there are some oldie, but goodies who have released some very pretty shoes of late and one of those is Jimmy Choo. I’m not quite sure what happened over there but lately the Choo has been dishing out the beauties. If you haven’t checked them out lately, please do, you won’t be disappointed. The last brand is Aquazzura. Now for the last couple of years Aquazzura has been releasing their Tequila Crystal heels. Every year the crystals come in various colors, there was a rainbow pair that was glorious and then there was one that just had clear crystals, and this year they have released them with the emerald crystals.  Chef’s kiss!  They even have a shoe called the Gatsby, so if you are looking for some sparkle for a night out on the town or hell even just to throw on with jeans to spruce up your outfit, take a look at the brands mentioned above.

“Every woman dreams of having a precious jewel to have and keep forever, and so it is with my shoes. They represent the dream that every woman would like to have on her feet, just like a piece of jewelry.”
